Tomorrow is the day! Don’t worry — you can still register for the old GRE as well. From tomorrow until the end of July, you will be able to sign up for either test. You can sign up for the GRE here: http://www.ets.org/gre. Be sure that you sign up for the correct test! If you sign up to take the new GRE in August or September, you get a 50% discount! That’s nice.
Here are some more important dates to keep in mind during the upcoming months:
March 15: Registration for the new GRE begins
July 31: Last day for administration of the current GRE*
August 1: New GRE begins; current GRE no longer offered!
Mid-Late November: Scores for new GRE begin coming out
*Depends on testing center availability — some testing centers may not have July 31 available, so be sure to check the available dates and make appointments ASAP on the ETS website!
If you haven’t already done so, you will need to create an account on the ETS website in order to register for the exam.

Hello,i wish to take the Gre paper-based test that comes up in August.Am i late? or i can still register because i discovered that the test comes up again only on the 22nd of October 2011 which of course will be too late for me.Am in Africa, precisely in Cameroon.Thanks.
Hi! According to the ETS, there are no test dates for the paper-based test in August. See here:
http://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/register/centers_dates/
http://www.ets.org/gre/general/register/centers_dates/
According to these charts, the dates for 2011 are: 02/12/2011, 10/22/2011, and 11/19/2011.
I went through the registration process for Cameroon, and it appears that the earliest paper-based exam that you can take is in October. Are you certain that the October 2011 exam will be too late? Perhaps you should call whatever school you are applying to and ask them. Best of luck!
